This planetarium is the largest in Italy and is of great importance for the education of children, and adults will also find it quite interesting.
The projection system of the “Ulrico Hoepli” Planetarium allows for the reproduction of planets in the night sky with astonishing realism, various astronomical phenomena that have been observed in the past, present, or future from any point on Earth.
The computer-controlled projection system of the planetarium projects images of the starry sky and various astronomical phenomena onto a dome with a diameter of 20 meters.
The planetarium was opened in Milan on July 10, 1929. It was the second planetarium built in Italy. The first planetarium was opened in Rome in 1928, but it met a sad fate – it lasted only a few years and was closed.

During such a tour, you are offered to observe the night sky, specifically – the planets. You will be taught to identify the main constellations, and you will also see various astronomical phenomena. Such events will be interesting for beginners, those who are encountering astronomy for the first time, or those who simply want to enjoy the spectacle of the starry sky.
Children’s Events
At such events, all topics are presented in a light, playful, educational form that is most suitable for children. Sometimes it takes the form of a fairy tale, in which narrative techniques of theater best convey the principle of astronomical phenomena to the young audience. Such performances are aimed at children over 8 years old (unless age is specified).
