Lugano (Switzerland)

Lugano sprawls along the shores of Lake Ceresio, at the foot of the two mountains San Salvatore and Brè. The tour begins at the main square of the city – Piazza Riforma. Here you will find many banks, cozy cafes and restaurants, and the majestic Municipal building with clocks and sculptures – allegories of Religion, Concord, Strength, and Freedom. Then you can stroll along Via Nassa – the most elegant street in the city, which is completely pedestrian. Shopping here is enjoyable in any weather, even in the rain, while peacefully walking under the ancient arcades.
The main attraction of Lugano is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, which houses late Gothic frescoes, Renaissance bas-reliefs, paintings by the Torricelli brothers in the Baroque style, and exquisite Rococo sculptures.
You cannot miss the most beautiful fresco in Switzerland, “Crucifixion” and “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci’s disciple. If you have already seen Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” in Milan, it will be interesting to compare these two masterpieces.
