The so-called “Royal Road” is a narrow path about 1 meter wide in the El Chorro gorge, in the Ardales Natural Park, near the Guadalhorce lakes.
These places are considered the most beautiful in the province of Malaga, and the road got its name in 1921 when King of Spain Alfonso XIII strolled along it.
In 2017, the road was recognized as the most beautiful “tourist attraction” in Spain.
For a long time, the road was semi-destroyed, and passage along it was prohibited. In 2015, the Royal Road was opened to visitors (actually rebuilt).
The walking route along the road is accessible for people of all ages.

You cover a total distance of about 7 kilometers in about two hours.
After that, you return to the starting point by regular bus, to the restaurant “El Mirador”. It is located next to the lake and is famous for its fantastic views and excellent cuisine.
IMPORTANT: To pass the “Royal Road,” it is necessary to book an entrance ticket a few days before the intended date! The cost is 10 euros.
In summer, it is usually possible to swim and sunbathe at the lake in a specially equipped area after completing the route.
Travel time from Marbella is 1 hour 20 minutes. From Malaga – 35 minutes.
The total duration of the tour with transfer and lunch is about 7-9 hours.
